Terminator Genisys - Rise of the Resistance Board Game

“Terminator Genisys: Rise of the Resistance is a cooperative tactical board game for 1-4 players where you play as the leaders of the Resistance, liberating humankind from the clutches of the machines. Use the mission guide to select your scenario or play through in campaign mode. Build the modular map and select your favourite resistance hero before engaging the terminators in a battle for survival. Roll dice and allocate them to abilities, weapons, movement and more. Keep pressing on toward the next way point but don’t get overrun by the machines.”

The game started as failed Kickstarter but was eventually released as a normal retail game by River Horse. I ordered a discounted copy and was very positive surprised! Big bunch of minis, great cardboard, decent rules - YES!

The minis are not as good as the Genisys Miniature game minis, but are compatible, sometimes the same sculpts. I rebased some of my older minis, they fit in well!

Metal T-800 Commander (Warlord), T-1000 (Boardgame plastic), T-800 Flamer (Boardgame plastic).

Plastic T-72 Platform, T-800 Flamer, metal T-800 Commander (Warlord), T-800 (Plastic Warlord) and T-72 Mobile Gun Platform.

T-800 (Plastic Warlord) and T-800 (Boardgame Plastic)

HK-8 Flying "Buzzer" Drone (Boardgame Plastic)

John Connor (River Horse/ Warlord resin, bigger more details, a perfect miniature) and the Guardian (Boardgame Plastic, slightly smaller and with softer edges, but still a GREAT mini.

Alex the Hacker (Boardgame Plastic)

Terminator Genisys - Miniature Game

“The desperate mission to protect Sarah Connor may be well documented, but the War against the Machines has its own heroes. Tell their tales with the Terminator Genisys Miniatures game!
Lead a resistance force of Humanity’s last and most stubborn rebels or a cadre of remorseless killing machines to vie for control of the world!

Use special characters like John Connor or ‘Pops’, the reprogrammed Guardian T-800, as your ace in the hole, and if all goes wrong make a gambit with time travel technology to prevent it ever happening!

The best way to start your campaign is with the 32 figure War against the Machines set. Containing a 128 page full colour rulebook, 13 colour coded dice, Quick start rules and quick reference sheets, a full colour double sided game mat, a custom fate die and metal Kyle Reese miniature! Everything you need to immediately start playing the Terminator Genisys Miniatures game with easily assembled models.” - from the Terminator Riverhorse website.

BTW - I recently ordered directly from Riverhorse, absolutely stunning service, reasonable shipping cost and VERY fast shipment, highly recommended!

The T-800 Pops, incredible mini, my painting is NOT doing it justice!

The T-1000 from T-2, one of the most iconic movie villains of all times! I later realised that the mini is based on the Asian T-1000 from the Genisys movie, out of sheer stubbornness I kept him blond... ;)

I bought the game and really like the rules so far. Seems a very well designed game, streamlined but with enough grit to keep you interested! There is a very good game summary on TMP!

The included Endoskeletons are an absolute blast to paint, extremely easy! The above 3 were done under 1h.

On to the Human Resistance! The core game box also got the “exclusive” metal Kyle Reese model in it, time to paint him.
IMO - as the plastic Resistance fighters - a solid mini sculpt, but not as good as the Endoskeletons. It is in a way a sloppy sculpt, which makes it difficult to paint... The humans are also strangely out of scale. Kyle is a towering mini, while the other plastic sculpts are smaller. However - I presume it is deliberate, since the weapon sizes are constitant. The always asked for scale shot is below:
From left to right: Copplestone robot, Endoskeleton, Reese, Plastic Resistance, GW Space Marine

I painted one of the plastic Resistance Fighters, when painted the minis are absolutely OK.
