Sylvaneth

“From the heart of the Realm of Life pulses a song of war. It reverberates through every tree, stream and blade of grass, surging through veins of sap and into the bodies of the forests’ pale, gnarled-bark guardians. These fey creatures are the Sylvaneth, each one lovingly grown by their mother-goddess to defend the natural order.”

The 4th edition of Age of Sigmar brings a well playable Spearhead (Skirmish) play mode. My Sylvaneth Spearhead force is a mixture of GW and CMON miniatures.

The Sylvaneth Spearhead army consists of the following units:
GENERAL

  • Branchwych

UNITS

  • 1 Treelord (Black Goat of the Woods)
  • 3 Kurnoth Hunters (Dark Young)
  • 5 Tree-Revenants

GWs Treelord and Kurnoth Hunters are IMO a bit goofy looking. And since I have a ton of suitable other minis around I decided to use minis from the "Death may Die" Cthulhu game.

Very small conversion on the General Branchwych mini.

For the Tree-Revenants I used the Spite heads but kept the Tree-Revenants weapons. IMO the Spite heads are better fitting to the darker Cthulhu influenced theme of my Spearhead force.

The stand in for the Treelord - the spectacular Black Goat mini from “Death may Die”.

And the stand ins for the Kurnoth Hunters, the Dark Young minis from “Death may Die”.

“The Dark Young are spawn of the Black Goat of the Woods, its infamous brood are often termed the Thousand Young, though their numbers likely exceed a modest count.
As individuals, the Young are not particularly threatening, though quite resilient. As one would expect, the Dark Young's strength lies in numbers. Their shrieks and gibbering call to their siblings, and one Young can become dozens faster than an opponent can compensate.
It's best to finish them off quickly and quietly, preferably from ambush, if such a thing is possible against a creature with such unnatural senses.”
