Primaris Blood Angels
"They were forged for Mankind's darkest hour -and that hour is upon us." Ultramarines Primarch Roboute Guilliman, Lord Commander of the Imperium
“The Primaris Space Marines are a new breed of transhuman warriors developed across the span of ten thousand standard years by Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl on Mars on the order of Primarch Roboute Guilliman. Cawl used the genetic template of the original Space Marines created by the Emperor for His Great Crusade as the starting point for the development of the new Astartes. Primaris Space Marines are bigger, more physically powerful and possess faster reaction times than their original Astartes counterparts.
For ten millennia, Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl has been working on a task set for him by the Primarch Roboute Guilliman before he was mortally wounded by the Daemon Primarch Fulgrim in the days after the Horus Heresy: a new legion of transhuman warriors. Developed on orders from Guilliman 100 standard centuries past, Primaris Space Marines were diligently developed and perfected by the Priesthood of Mars during the long intervening millennia. As an optimist, but never a fool, Guilliman learned from the mistakes of the Horus Heresy, and he foresaw that the Forces of Chaos would never relent in their aim to bring the Imperium low. He anticipated that devastating times would once again engulf the galaxy and knew that warriors resilient enough to stand against them would be needed as never before. That time has surely come. Now, as the Imperium of Man is poised on the brink of annihilation at the hands of Chaos, his task is at last complete.
At the dawn of the Indomitus Crusade to retake the Imperium from the advancing armies of Chaos and xenos alike, Lord Commander of the Imperium Roboute Guilliman has gathered his new armada, along with elements of the Adeptus Custodes, a small contingent of the Silent Sisterhood and a vast war host of Primaris Space Marines as he fights to liberate the scattered bastions of the Imperium. Some, Guilliman has forged into new Space Marine Chapters, whole brotherhoods comprised only of these new transhuman warriors. Others he has offered to the existing Space Marine Chapters. Many Chapter Masters have welcomed their Primaris brethren into their ranks, accepting the new reinforcements gladly. Others, though, view these new creations with suspicion or outright hostility, claiming that the Emperor's work should never have been meddled with by mere mortals.” from WH40K Wiki
Finally, the new 40K has arrived! 8th edition looks very promising, hopefully next week I have my 1st game. I was also very curious about the new Marines. So without any further blah blah, here is my 1st Primaris Marine.
Primaris Intercessor Brother Marine of the the 2nd company, 7th squad. Right out of the box, only the head is an old Mk VI “Beaky” helmet. There was a lot of talk about head swaps, so I wanted to try it. The Primaris are great minis, but are rather static, they are not as pose able as the older plastic Space Marine kits.
The new Dante miniature. Dante, born Luis Dante, sometimes called the "Lord of Angels" and "Bringer of Sanguinius' Light," is the current commander and Chapter Master of the Blood Angels Chapter of Space Marines as well as the lord regent of the Imperium Nihilus, and has served as Chapter Master for approximately 1,100 standard years.
Commander Dante's power armour incorporates a highly ornate golden death mask beneath his Iron Halo, called the Death Mask of Sanguinius, which is said to have been worn by and shaped to match the fear-inspiring features of Sanguinius, the Blood Angels' primarch, at the moment of his death at the hands of the Arch-traitor Horus.
My take on the splendid new Mephiston miniature.
Mephiston, originally named Calistarius, and also called the "Lord of Death," is the Master of the Librarius and the Chief Librarian of the Blood Angels Space Marine Chapter. He is the only member of the Blood Angels or their Successor Chapters known to have defeated the pull of the Black Rage not once, but twice in his life, regaining his sanity both times. He is a Librarian of potent ability, believed to be one of the mightiest psykers in the entire Imperium of Man.
Yet there are whispers that Mephiston paid a dreadful price for his resurrection, that when he mastered the Black Rage something altogether more terrible took its place. It is to be hoped that such rumours are baseless, mere carrion latching onto greatness, but Mephiston keeps his secrets close, and only time will reveal the truth.
The Redemptor Dreadnought is a new pattern of Adeptus Astartes Dreadnought specifically created to serve alongside the Primaris Space Marines. It, like the standard pattern Castraferrum Dreadnought, is intended to provide mortally wounded Primaris Astartes with another chance to continue to serve the Emperor.
Redemptor Dreadnoughts are giant war engines that crush bone and splinter skulls as they bludgeon through the enemy ranks. Taller, broader and more cunningly wrought than the Dreadnoughts of traditional design, these goliaths of battle are powered by hyper-dense Plasma Reactors and sophisticated fibre bundles.
Primaris Intercessor Squad 7 Crassus of the the 2nd company. More details on the individual models below.
Primaris Intercessor Brother Marine of the the 2nd company, 7th squad. Again only a very minor conversion. I only used MkVII exhaust vents with BA droplets, the droplets were arranged to enhance the dynamic, forward feel of the skirmishing mini.
Primaris Intercessor Brother Marines of the the 2nd company, 7th squad. This time no conversion at all.
Primaris Intercessor Brother Marine Sergeant Crassus the the 2nd company, 7th squad. Again only a small minor conversion. The backpack received a Blood Angel icon and I used an Blood Angel head.
Primaris Reiver Brother Marine the the 2nd company. Again a small minor conversion. The backpack, left shoulder pad and the helmet is from the Death Company box. I also painted him in DC colours. While Primaris are not effected by the Black Curse of the Blood Angels I decided that some Reivers will paint their armour as DC to honour their brothers.
Where the Intercessors are the battle line heavy infantry of the Primaris Astartes, the Reivers are elite assault specialists given special training and wargear. Reivers are masters of terror tactics, breaking from stealth in a cacophony of Bolter fire, grenade detonations and guttural, Vox-amplified roars. Fits to DC too! For transfers I used Forge World BA.
Brother Lieutenant Arael of the 2nd company
Primaris Intercessor Brother Marines of the the 2nd company, 4th squad. Build and converted by me, painted by me and (mostly) by Peter of Scars Minis.
Primaris Intercessor Brother Marines of the the 2nd company, 3rd squad. Build and converted by me, painted by me and (mostly) by Peter of Scars Minis.
Another angle of the Primaris Intercessor Brother Marines of the the 2nd company, 3rd squad. I used a Death Company Backpack on the left Marine, a Servo skull on the Auspex Marine.
3rd Primaris, Ancient with Banner. Another minor conversion. Again a head swap, extra grenades and a wing on the right shoulder pad. With this model some extra effort was used, hopefully it shows.
Brother Ancient Raguel of the 2nd company
4th Primaris, Hellblaster Brother Sergeant Gabriel. Another minor conversion. Again a head swap (Mk IV BA), extra grenades and modified backpack.
Brother Gabriel of the 2nd company
The full squad. Painted by me and (mostly) by Peter of Scars Minis.
5th Primaris, Brother Captain Victus. Another conversion. Again a head swap (BA Tactical Sergeant), sword from a Sanguinary Guard, extra purity seal at wrist, BA wing on left shoulder pad and the banner. I am happy how the conversion fits together.
Brother Captain Victus of the 2nd company
6th Primaris, Inceptor Brother Sergeant Angelus. Another conversion. Again a head swap (BA Sanguinary Guard), wings from a Sanguinary Guard, grenade and pouch with blood droplet and BA icon on top of the “hood”. The hood was also a bit shortened to reduce the cover over the head, basically just to make the Mk VII head more visible. I am very happy how this all came together.
And the always asked for comparison pictures:
HH World Eater, Primaris Inceptor and HH Emperors Children
Tanith Guardsman, Primaris Marine, Grey Knight and Eldar Ulthwe Guardian.
Grey Knight Terminator, Primaris Marine and Grey Knight.
